The Perfect Backyard Wedding Weekend in Country Victoria –

This is the story of a wonderful couple who made me cry several times before they even said “I do”. And when I say cry, then I mean happy-happy-happy-lovey wedding tears…It is the wedding story of Jasmyn and Jordan.

It all started about a year before their wedding when I took their engagement photos in the You Yangs. Gosh, these two are just picture perfect together and I still remember the amazing evening we spent in the mountains together. I captured their love, we laughed so much and after we finished the session we had a little picknick on the rocks. What an amazing time we had!

Well…about a year later, which is exactly one year ago today…I jumped in my car, drove up to Mooroopna (yes, I had to ask several times how I pronounce it…bloody second language. But I got it now!) and arrived on Jordan’s dad’s property…
Jordan’s dad and his wife had been preparing their property for the wedding of his son for a long time before and I was blown away by the amount of love and care they put into the wedding preparations for their kid’s wedding. It all look like out of a little fairy tale and was the greatest setting Jasmyn and Jordan could have wished for for their backyard camping wedding weekend!
The light was amazing, it was a lush summers night and bride and groom-to-be were gathering their friends and family for some welcome drinks. People were setting up camp for the weekend, the BBQ was going. What a perfect wedding-eve!

The next morning was filled with last minute preparations but Jordan and Jasmyn hat the most amazing helpers by their side: friends and family were all hands on to do the last preparations for the big day and the vibe around camp was just perfect.
I joined bride and groom for their getting ready…both got ready separately with bridesmaids and groomsmen helping them. The bridal party got super sweet and thoughtful presents: The ladies got personalised wine glasses, a robe and personalised bracelets to always remember this perfect day and the groomsmen got a personalised pocket watch, happy socks and some other goodies. 

After a relaxed morning it was finally time for the first look and even though I have been hanging out at weddings for a looooong time now, I have never before experienced such an emotional first look! Jasmyn was definitely the sweetest bride ever and seeing her wait for her groom was another check for “making your wedding photographer cry” (not the first time for that day…)
They took a few minutes to enjoy their first time seeing each other as bride and groom, hugged and kissed countless time and took it all in…right like it should be!

After these minutes of togetherness the wedding festivities started off…Jordan made his way back to the wedding venue (his dad’s property) with his best man and Jasmyn drove down in a beautiful classic car with her nan, who is incredibly important to her. Seeing Jasmyn’s emotions when she got out of the car was beautiful and I am incredibly thankful that she allowed me to be so close to her to capture her emotions. (And here we go: another cry for me, too…)
The backyard wedding ceremony was absolutely wonderful…emotional filled and all friends and family of the bridal couple gathered around the newlyweds! After saying I-Do’s a beautiful sunny summers afternoon took off under the giant tree’s shade…it was pretty epic.
Bride and groom had the whole afternoon to enjoy with their guests, we only sneaked out for a short portrait session at sunset…Later on a dinner buffet was served in the shed which had been converted to the wedding reception venue and when the speeches came around I yet cried another time! There was so much love around from the family and friends for the couple, it was literally the perfect wedding!

The festivities continued and as most wedding guests stayed and camped on the property (so did I, too ;), the party went on until late in the night…yay for camping weddings!
