An Elegant Charlotte Wedding at The Ballantyne Hotel –

A fairy-tale wedding day in NC

Giovanna and Andrew…they pretty much already had a place in my heart since I had taken their engagement photos in Germany in 2016. When they asked me a little later if I wanted to photograph their wedding in Charlotte, NC, of course I said yes.

It took some time till we had it all worked out as yes, it might not seem to be necessary to fly someone over from Germany to the States to photograph a wedding as there are so many amazing colleagues. But Giovanna wanted me to come, which is such a massive honour for me!

So last year in April I flew over to meet G & D again. I came as a stranger to their families and when I left it felt like I didn’t just go on a job for a wedding, no it felt like I made so many amazing new friends and like I had won the family lottery: Giovanna’s and Drew’s families welcomed me so warmly it was absolutely amazing and I cannot express how grateful I am for this.

I know we’ll all meet again – well in fact we have already met again on their family vacation in Italy this July.

But I know…this blogpost is about wedding photography. I’ll try to focus better…

G & D had a wonderful day, which started off with a perfect getting ready of Giovanna and her mother together – both got pampered by the wonderful Jenny and Katy at the Ballantyne Hotel  which is just the perfect place for an elegant wedding.

Later on they were joined by Giovanna’s bridesmaids and Drew got ready with his boys.

The ceremony was held at St. Pauls Cathedral in Charlotte CBD and afterwards we went out with the whole bridal party for some city portraits and I got to get creative with the whole party which was so much fun!

On the way back to the Ballantyne Hotel  bride and groom escaped with me and we had the chance for some indoor wedding portraits at the beautiful hotel just before dinner and speeches started.

Like I always try to do it I managed to sneak out with the couple for sunset and we explored a corner of the golf course and – way more exciting – an empty car park at blue hour. The light was amazing, the sky had such a wonderful colour and G&D were just glowing with love. I love the results of this wedding portrait session and can’t thank bride and groom enough for trusting me and my style of work blind.

Back at the Ball Room of the Ballantyne Hotel the party started off with and amazing band and I must say – I was absolutely impressed how quickly the party got cooking! Giovanna and Drew celebrated their love with all their loved ones and it was an unforgettable night!
